Embden
Embdens are the larges of all domestic breeds of geese available in Australia. They origionated in Germany, and have since been exported around the world as table birds.
Embdens are a sight not to be forgotten. Weighing up to 15kgs, the embdens are a beautiful bird. Embdens only come in white. They have long graceful necks, held on an upright body. Their heads are quiet pointy with a relatively long beak.
Being so heavy they have trouble flying, but can be a bit of a handful in breeding season if you are unlucky and get a possessive gander.
Embdens are getting harder and harder to find and a rare breed that really need preserving.
