Old English game bantams are one of the most alert, inquisitive and handsome breeds available. They are amongst the most popular breeds in Australia both for pet and show value. There are over 50 different registered colours of O.E.G available, the list is endless. The cock birds are always brightly decorated, with a lovely medium pitched crow. Hens are very nice stocky little birds.
The Old English Game are good for children when raised from a young age, i have had many happy customers purchase O.E.G with children in mind - one family found one of their newly purchased hens laying an egg on the bookshelf inside. O.E.G are very cheeky, always into something.
The game part of the name represents fighting bird, they were origionally breed for cock fighting and have this firmly imbedded in their personality towards other roosters, not humans. It is essential unless you have a very quiet rooster you keep them seperated.
The colours we currently have available are Silver Duckwing and Blue Red rooster/Wheaten hens. O.E.G are a lot of fun to breed. When crossing colours you end up with a mixed batch of the same parent colours. For example of a clutch of 8 eggs , from the blue red/wheaten 2 wheaten hens, 1 wheaten cock, 2blue red cocks, 2 blue red hens, 1 other - alot of fun for childern.
The O.E.G are a very hardy breed, good for first timers, they lay a moderate ammount of eggs - around 100. The eggs are of a descent size and slightly tintet in colour.
