Exhibition
Toulouse
The gentle giants of
the goose world. Toulouse are truly superb. Their slow gentle nature
makes you want to hug them.
The toulouse are a
loveley breed. Initially breed for meat they are now in very short
supply, and are mainly kept for the show bench. Toulouse are very slow
maturing, and it would be unusual to see a young bird at a show. They
take many years to reach show perfection - most breeders will not
exhibit toulouse under 2yrs or age.
The large dewlap and
heavy keel take time to form, but once devloped - there is nothing
nicer.
Weighing up to 13 kgs,
these big birds are very slow moving. Surprisingly they do not seem to
be huge supplement feed eaters and are quiet happy with their grass and
bread.
WOW, is a word that sums up
these gentle giants very nicely.
